Step by Step Guide for Restoring Old Forum Look

Trigger, in collaboration with a couple of others, has put together a code which will bring back elements of the old forum [profiles on the left, the old grey and white colour scheme, better font]. This can be found on the thread 'New Design'.

Just decided to make a new thread on it because there will be some people who want the old forum look but won't be arsed to sift through 8 pages of people chatting in order to get to the important bits.

The below is the current [as of 9.30pm 5th August] 'skin'

Do the following:

Step 1 - Download Stylish - this is a programme that allows you to change the look of forums you visit.

Click on this link https://userstyles.org/

I use Firefox, so I clicked on 'Stylish for Firefox'

Once its installed you should see an 'S' logo on your toolbar

Step 2 - Install Trigger's Code

Click on the following link, and install the code

https://userstyles.org/styles/117345/365restyler-new

The forum should now resemble its former self [in part]

To make sure Trigger's code is 'on', click on the S logo on your toolbar and click on 'Manage Styles', here you will see Trigger's code '365 Restyler' ensure that this is set to 'enabled'.

If you want to faff about with anything then click on the S logo again, click on Manage Styles, click 365 Restyler > edit

The code box will now appear.

To increase the font scroll down to the subheading 'post.content', underneath you will see 'font size', it should be set at 13px, but you can mess around with the number and increase or decrease it. Click preview to see your changes. Click save when you're happy.

Underneath 'font size' is 'line height', this dictates how 'high up' the text of the replies is inside the reply box, it should be set to 1.5 or 2 in order for maximum lucidity, again you can mess around with it till you get the style you like.

And that should be that 365 luddies of the world unite.

Thanks to Trigger for the code, Rogue Shadow for the help with the backgrounds, Funky Ball of Tits, WastedJoker, Lagertop etc etc

** New Update 6th August **

Many thanks to Seaside Wolf who has been up all night working on further additions to our forum experience.

Seaside has written code which will bring back the 'View Your Posts' and Bookmarks function, he's also written a code which will allow links on the forum to open in an external window [instead of taking you off the forum]

To bring in Seaside's additions do the following:

Step 1 - Firefox users install 'GreaseMonkey' [by searching for the add on and installing it] other server users can install tampermonkey

Step 2 - Click on the following links and install them

To get the 'see your posts' and 'bookmarks' back, click on this and install - https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/11492-f365-links [with notifications], https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/11491 ... ifications [without notifications].

To be able to open links without exiting the forum, click on this link and install - https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/11510 ... new-window

There was a Stylish theme for making the old forum look like the old old forum.

The one in the OP makes it look like the old forum. Has anyone put together a theme that makes it look like the old old forum (essentially the same as the old forum but with less dead space and a smaller font)?

All very impressive but for the lazy amongst us, surely it's not that difficult for it to be changed for everyone.

BM just in case.

I was just thinking the reason I have Stylish installed is because of this very same thing years ago

That way to get the old forum to look like the old old forum is here:

http://forum.football365.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6897

This new one is beyond crap and too many details need addressing. Trigs method gets us closer to it but there are just too many areas that still look crap (taking nothing away from Trig & Co's work :toppa: )
